Figura pionera en el desarrollo del R&B posterior al declive de las big bands de finales de los 40, Johnny Otis fue la figura blanca más destacada en la historia del R&B negro. Johnny Otis ha sido denominado como “the Godfather of Rhythm and Blues”. A lo largo de los años desarrolló un extraordinario oído para el talento, lo que contribuyó al crecimiento y desarrollo del rhythm & blues.
