John D. Hale Band

Desperate People

by John D. Hale Band
John D. Hale Band

Biografía:

If you were to ask the John D. Hale Band to classify their sound, they’d respond by simply saying “its country.” Charming as this response is, it has the potential to be misleading. Blending together their favorite parts of country, Americana , southern rock, and even bluegrass, the John D. Hale Band have crafted their own edgy and raucous sound.

John D. and the boys began playing in earnest in 2005 in support of their debut album, One of a Kind.

[Intro]
F C C/B Am Am x2

[Verse 1]
F C C/B Am
Well I'm kinda in a pinch, need to make a quick buck
F C C/B Am
That ain't nothin' new, I'm gettin pretty damn used to bad luck
F C C/B Am
Guess I's tired of bein' broke, that's why did what I done
F C C/B Am
Just a desperate man with a mind like a loaded gun

[Verse 2]
F C C/B Am
Well old man Jones, he lives around the next bend
F C C/B Am
Growin' up we heard the tales of all the cash he kept hid
F C C/B Am
Since his wife passed away, well his mind is fading fast
F C C/B Am
So he won't even notice when I rob him of his cash

[Chorus]
F C F C
The line that starts to fade between whats wrong and right
F C C/B Am
Black and white, they turn to grey, disappear into the night
F C F C
Please tell my sweet dear mother I never meant to cause her shame
F C C/B Am
Tell Daddy I didn't mean to disgrace the family name
F C C/B Am
But it's just that desperate people do desperate things

[Instrumental]
F C C/B Am Am x2

[Verse 3]
F C C/B Am
The screen door rattled and the old steps creaked
F C C/B Am
My hearts a-pounding heavy and my knees are gettin weak
F C C/B Am
I was stumbling thru the dark when I heard a voice call
F C C/B Am
Don't you take another step or this hammer is gonna fall

[Verse 4]
F C C/B Am
Well I don't know why I ran, guess a feeling from my gut
F C C/B Am
Well I all but made the wood before I felt the lead cut
F C C/B Am
Well my hearts a-beatin weaker and the air is growin thin
F C C/B Am
I said a little prayer as I drew my last breath in

[Chorus]
F C C/B Am Am
But it's just that desperate people do desperate things
F C C/B Am Am
Yeah it's just that desperate people do desperate things

[Outro]
F C C/B Am Am
