John Coltrane (Hamlet, Carolina del Norte, 23 de septiembre de 1926 - Nueva York, 17 de julio de 1967), apodado Trane, saxofonista (tenor y soprano) y compositor estadounidense de jazz. Aunque también muy controvertido, se trata de uno de los músicos más relevantes e influyentes de la historia del jazz, a la altura de otros artistas como Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker y Miles Davis.
