Biografía:
Irene Cara (nacida como Irene T. Escalera el 18 de marzo de 1962 en el Bronx, Nueva York) es una actriz y cantante estadounidense.
Se inició en la televisión de habla hispana cantando y bailando.
La máxima popularidad de su carrera llegó al actuar en la película de 1980 Fama en el papel de Coco Hernández, así como interpretar el tema principal y participar en otros temas de la banda sonora de esta película.
Participó también en la banda sonora de la película Flashdance.
