Con una imagen que mezclaba el glam con lo psicodélico, y con efectos francamente ridículos. el grupo inglés Doctor And The Medics tuvieron su más grande éxito en 1986, gracias a un cover del clásico de Norman Grenbaum, Spirit In The Sky. La canción pertenecía a su disco -nada malo- Laughing At The Pieces (curioso: de la disquera IRS), y ocupó el número uno en el Reino Unido. The Doctor era en realidad Clive Jackson, un tipo de dos metros de altura que con su grupo manejaba un estilo de rock alternativo con influencia de T Rex
