Wavelengths – Cymbals Eat Guitars

Capo on 2 , Standard Tuning

This song is mainly played on the bottom five strings. The top two can be strummed or muted, whatever
you think sounds better. Joseph has an unorthodox method of playing so some of the cords are weird,
but they sound pretty much spot on.

Em F#m G Cmaj7/G
This contusion-colored evening

Em - G – Em – G

Em F#m G Cmaj7/G
maybe you paint the silhouette

Em G Em B*??
of the gaunt tree line singed in '97

Cmaj7/G B* G
when wildfires threatened my development

D*
and the swallowed towns the Klan had founded

C D*
the shaded sand dens were party caverns

C D*
for them who'd come hallucinate while we slept

C D* C
scaring our rabbits to death in their hutches

D* Eb* Em
I can't remember how I used to live
B* Cmaj7/G G
but they've all cased their jumps
Em B* Cmaj7/G G
fatally I willed it to be
Em B* Cmaj7/G G
in the hours of blankness preceding sleep
F#m B* Cmaj7/G - G
oh the years we waste faking remorse
Cmaj7/G
remorse

Em F#m G Cmaj7/G
every decision I have ever made
Em - G – Em – G

Em F#m G Cmaj7/G
bred the branching future's mute howlers
Em G Em
with burst-vessel red eyes
Cmaj7/G (??)
roaring inaudibly
Cmaj7/G B* G
on the freezing morning walk to the dim corner grocery
D*
what hangs over big empty country
C D*
reborn in negatives of photos of dusk
C D*
regret so huge it's on a phantom axis
C D*
receding beaches hissing hearing damage
C D*
and the miles-long column of cold moonlight cast across
C D* Eb* Em
still seas when my nose begins to bleed
Em B* Cmaj7/G G
some submitted to having their lights put out
Em B* Cmaj7/G G
by basement thrill killers
Em B* Cmaj7/G G
in the neighborhood I heard being murdered is no experience
F#m B*
ten or eleven wounds
Cmaj7/G Cmaj7/G G Cmaj7/G
in it's not about Satan or anything you just die
Cmaj7/G
it's weird
