El 26 de Mayo de 2010, Bowersox fue nombrada la finalista en la novena temporada del popular reality show: "American Idol".
Crystal Bowersox, nativa de Ohio se caracteriza por sus sonidos indie con una combinación de bohemio dando la mejor nueva popuesta musical.
Entre las influencias de Bowersox se encuentran Jewel, Joni Mitchell y Sara McLachlan, seguidas de Counting Crows, Bonnie Rait, Tracy Chapman, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin y Ray Lamontagne.
