Biografía:
Cole Porter (9 de junio de 1891 - 15 de octubre de 1964) fue un compositor y letrista estadounidense de música popular, autor de más de mil canciones (muchas de ellas, como Night and Day, consideradas como estándares) y de numerosas comedias musicales
Nació en Peru, Indiana, en el seno de una familia protestante acomodada; su padre fue un tratante de carbón y madera. Habiéndose muerto dos hermanos de Cole a temprana edad, su madre tuvo completa dedicación hacia él; lo introdujo en la música muy pronto
