Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
My friends from high school
Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
Married their high school boyfriends
Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
Moved into houses
Gsus2 Gsus4
In the same ZIP codes
Gsus2 Gsus4
Where their parents live

Em Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
But I, I could never follow
Em Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
No I, I could never follow

Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
I hit the highway
Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
In a pink RV with stars on the ceiling
Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
Lived like a gypsy
Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
Six strong hands on the steering wheel

Em D Cadd9 G
I've been a long time gone now
Em D Cadd9 G
Maybe someday, someday I'm gonna settle down
Em D Cadd9 G
But I've always found my way somehow

Em D Cadd9 G
By taking the long way
Em D Cadd9 G
Taking the long way around
Em D Cadd9 G
Taking the long way
Em D Cadd9 G
Taking the long way around

Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
Met the queen of whatever
Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
Drank with the Irish, smoked with the hippies
Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
Moved with the shakers
Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
Wouldn't kiss all the asses that they told me to

Em Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
No I, I could never follow
Em Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
No I, I could never follow

Em D Cadd9 G
Its been two long years now
Em D Cadd9 G
Since the top of the world came crashing down
Em D Cadd9 G
And I'm getting it back on the road now

Em D Cadd9 G
But I'm taking the long way
Em D Cadd9 G
Taking the long way around
Em D Cadd9 G
Taking the long way
Em D Cadd9 G
Taking the long way around
D
The long
Cadd9
The long way around

G
Well, I fought with a stranger and I met myself
G
I opened my mouth and I heard myself
G
It can get pretty lonely when you show yourself
G
Guess I could have made it easier on myself

Em Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
But I, I could never follow
Em Gsus2 Gsus4 Gsus2 Gsus4
No I, I could never follow

Em D Cadd9 G
Well, I never seem to do it like anybody else
Em D Cadd9 G
Maybe someday, someday I'm gonna settle down
Em D Cadd9 G
If you ever want to find me I can still be found

Em D Cadd9 G
Taking the long way
Em D Cadd9 G
Taking the long way around
Em D Cadd9 G
Taking the long way
Em D Cadd9 G
Taking the long way around
