[Verse 1]
Well
F#m
Reverend, reverend
A
Please come quick
F#m A
'Cause I've got something to admit
F#m
I met a man out in the sticks
Bm
A good old mess
A Bm
He drove a series 10 Cadillac and wore a cigar on his lip

[Chorus]
A Bm
Don't you know the devil wears a suit and tie
C# Bm
So I'm driving down the 61' in early July
A Bm
White as a cotton field and sharp as a knife
C# Bm
I heard him howling as he passed me by

[Verse 2]
And he said
F#m A
I know you, I know you young man
F#m A
I know you by the state of your hands
F#m
You're a six-string picker
A
Just as I am
F#m
Let me learn you something
Bm
I know a few turns to make all the girls dance

[Chorus]
A Bm
Don't you know the devil wears a suit and tie
C# Bm
So I'm driving down the 61' in early July
A Bm
White as a cotton field and sharp as a knife
C# Bm
I heard him howling as he passed me by

[Bridge]
Bm
Foolish, foolish was I
Bm
Damn my foolish eyes
F#m
'Cause that man's lessons
Bm C#m
Had a price, oh sweet price
F#m C#m
My sweet soul, everlasting
Bm F#m
A very own eternal light

[Chorus]
A Bm
Don't you know the devil wears a suit and tie
C# Bm
So I'm driving down the 61' in early July
A Bm
White as a cotton field and sharp as a knife
C# Bm
I heard him howling as he passed me by
A Bm
Don't you know the devil wears a suit and tie
C# Bm
So I'm driving down the 61' in early July
A Bm
White as a cotton field and sharp as a knife
C# Bm
I heard him howling as he passed me by
