D A
I've no fond farewell for you
G D
I've got the shitty beach town blues
D A
You caught me getting in the cab
G D A
I waved and then I turned my back

G Bm
Down by the wreckage of the pier
D A
Saw your darkness and I found my greatest fear
G Bm
The Mighty Whale and Abraham
D A
The wretched fish that one day crawled out of the sea
D
To be a man

I paddled back to my homeland
And it's a dump it's a tin can
And I'm a cautionary tale
He sucked my blood, left me iron-poor and pale

A skeleton of years gone by
Led by the moon and by memory of the fire
We are the band, the band plays on
We're making music while the ship goes swiftly down

{whistle}

Down by the wreckage of the pier
Saw your darkness and I found my greatest fear
The Mighty Whale and Abraham
The wretched fish that one day crawled out of the sea
To be a man

Goodbye ocean
Goodbye England
I hope tomorrow treats you well
It's not your fault
It's probably me but
I'm getting out if I still can
