Carbon Leaf

Oi

by Carbon Leaf
Carbon Leaf

Biography:

Some bands insist on dragging listeners into their world, but Richmond, VA's Carbon Leaf works towards a more admirable and considerably more difficult goal – that of letting perfect strangers feel that the band understands their world. Since 1992, the band has succeeded in doing just that -- and on its third Vanguard release, Nothing Rhymes With Woman, has created a soundtrack suitable for multiple worlds.

“For me, this is an album that’s focused on growth and maturity, but it’s not deadly serious,” says front man Barry Privett.

[Verse 1]
Em G Em Bm
Rising ash, falling snow, she used to lie and adore ye
Em G C D Em
Winding long tales of woe, she used to lie and adore ye
Em G Em Bm
Nightingale, ashen-pale, whistling tunes, yeah, the moon still adores ye
Em G C D Em
Now, now, you're so young and proud, but another name for that will be 'lonely'
G Em Bm Em
Pick the lock, sweep the floor, leave without a sound
G C Bm Em
Just allow the empty space to heal

[Verse 2]
Em G Em Bm
Bound in chains with a thousand rains, no wonder the storm still adores ye
Em G C D Em
Hold me down or hold me now, screaming, "I still love and adore ye!"
Em G Em Bm
Past the door, winter storms through the streets of your unending longings
Em G C D Em
Flow down now to frost the ground, like cool Hallelujahs
Em G Em Bm
On the bridge that connects us high, high above all this torrent
Em G C D Em
Should you fall down, that wall of sound's howling, "I still love and adore ye!"
G Em Bm Em
Pick the lock, sweep the floor, leave without a sound
G C Bm Em
Just allow the empty space to heal
G Em Bm Em
Pick the lock, sweep the floor, leave without a sound
G C Bm Em
Just allow the empty space to heal
