Broods

Mother And Father

by Broods
Broods

Biography:

Broods is a dream pop sibling duo of Georgia Nott and Caleb Nott based in Auckland, New Zealand. Bridges (Oct 2013) was their dreamy debut single, produced by Joel Little (best known for producing Lorde's debut recordings).

Comprising vocalist Georgia Nott and her elder multi-instrumentalist brother, Caleb Nott, the pair grew up surrounded by music, having played together since they were children. They were in the Peasants, a band that won a competition for intermediate (junior high) and high school musical acts in 2011.

Tuning: Standard E

[Intro] C Am C Am F

[Verse 1]
C Am
...The nights are getting shorter
C Am F
...I don't know where they go
C Am
...I am getting older
C Am
...And it's starting to show
F C
And ever since I left my mother
Am
It's much harder to know
C
How to make my own life here
Am
How to make my own home

[Chorus]
F C
I don't wanna wake up lonely
Am
I don't wanna just be fine
C
I don't wanna keep on hoping
Am
Forget what I had in mind
F C
I don't wanna wake up lonely
Am
I don't wanna just be fine
C
I don't wanna keep on hoping
Am
Forget what I had in mind
F (C)
Forget what I had in mind

[Verse 2]
C Am
I remember the time when a kiss on the hand was enough
C Am
'Cause we knew we were free and we knew what it meant to be loved
F C
But ever since I left my father
Am
It's much harder to know
C
How to live my own life here
Am
When all I need is home

[Chorus]
F C
I don't wanna wake up lonely
Am
I don't wanna just be fine
C
I don't wanna keep on hoping
Am
Forget what I had in mind
F C
I don't wanna wake up lonely
Am
I don't wanna just be fine
C
I don't wanna keep on hoping
Am
Forget what I had in mind
F (C)
Forget what I had in mind

[Bridge]
Am G
...These faces start to fade
C Em
...They're slipping through my hands
Am G
...It's where my heart was made
C
...And my feet will always land

[Chorus]
F C
I don't wanna wake up lonely
Am
I don't wanna just be fine
C
I don't wanna keep on hoping
Am
Forget what I had in mind
F C
I don't wanna wake up lonely
Am
I don't wanna just be fine
C
I don't wanna keep on hoping
Am
Forget what I had in mind
F (C)
Forget what I had in mind
