Bright Eyes - Southern State live and studio version
I have to a lot credit to the original contributor Jumbo Pastry, + comments extratallguy103. I just wanted to
make something I could follow and plus I added my corrections.;D
just use either live or studio version chords variations to the song.

___________________________________________________________________

Studio:

Obviously the same chords for both are used, he just uses some different variations and sounds like a telecaster
instead of a acoustic here.

Chords: F Am Bb C Dm E
e|10| |12| |1| |6| |3| |9-| |5| |0|
B|10| |13| |3| |6| |5| |9-| |6| |0|
G|10| |14| |3| or |7| |5| or |9-| |7| |1|
D|10| |14| |3| |8| |5| |10| |7| |2|
A|8-| |12| |1| |8| |3| |10| |5| |2|

D|----10----------|-----14---------|-------------8--|------------10--|
A|-8--------------|-12-------------|-----8----------|----10----------|
E|----------------|----------------|-6--------------|-8--------------|*

Part after "are you who you say you are?" something like:

e|----------------|
B|----------------|
G|-3P2--0---------|
D|---------3-3-3--|
A|----------------|
E|----------------|

*He also will start to play the chords heavier and plucks/upstrokes the first 3 strings.
Just get a feel for it and then follow along.

Live:

Same thing just use these chords.

Chords:F(133211) Am(577555)*/(x02210) Bb(688766)*/(x133311) C(x32010)*/(x355533) Dm(x57765)*/(xx0231) E(022100)
[*Personally I think these sounds better, could be wrong.]

Song:

F
Well the songs you sung spiraled
Am
And hung 'round like echoes
Bb C
Or ripples on a pond

F
So you circled the globe
Am
Spent a year on the road
Bb C
Without ever going home

F
More than a couple of days,
Am
Then you’d leave right away
Bb C
Run to a girl you barely know

F
But you like how she sings
Am
And you can’t help but think
Bb C
That there’s something that she knows and could teach you

Bb C
While you’re, you're sleeping in that southern state
Bb C
Where the, the bars are filled with people you can’t hate
Bb
But try as you try
C
You still can’t relate to them
Bb C
And you drink that whiskey down
Dm
As they ask you,

Bb F
“Are you who you say you are?”
Dm Bb F
Are you who you say that you ar-r-re?
Dm Bb C
Are you who you say that you are, who…
F Dm
Are you who you say that you ar-r-e?
Bb F E Bb
Are you who you say you are?
C
The fact that we can’t tell makes us like you even more

F, Am, Bb, C x4

F
So now you’re trying again
Am
Or just visiting friends
Bb C
One had just had his heart broke

F
For the first time in his life
Am
He realized there's times
Bb C
When you can’t make it alone

F
But now you’re giving advice
Am
As if you had the right
Bb C
To use a word like “love”

F
No no it’s a negotiable term
Am
What gets said’s not what’s heard
Bb C
So it’s different then for everyone

Bb C
But you're still hanging ‘round that college town
Bb C
With your…your new life your new lover you’ve found
Bb C
And you’re keeping her up at night, bringing her down
Bb C
She’ll watch you drink yourself to death
Dm
But won’t ask you,

Bb F
“is this really what you want?”
Dm Bb F
Is this really what you want-unt-unt?
Dm Bb C
Is this really what you is this what...
F Dm
Is this really what you want-unt-unt?
Bb F E Bb
Is it really what you want?
C F, Am
Are you just sticking with it now because it’s all you’ve got-ot-ot?
Bb C F, Am
Are you just sticking with it now because it’s all you’ve got-ot-ot?
Bb
Yeah that’s it, I think you’re sticking with me now
C
Because I’m all you’ve gaaaaaaut-aaaut

F, Am, Bb, C until end over...end on F

go-ot, god no...I’m all you go-ot, god no, god no...
