En 1988, Lanzó el álbum llamado The Right Stuff. Tanto la canción "The Right Stuff" como "Dreamin'" fueron éxitos en listas de R&B y esta última llegó al Top 10 de Billboard Hot 100. Fue disco de oro y le significó tres nominaciones a los premios Grammy incluyendo Mejor Nueva Artista.
