Pilate

The Travel Song

by Pilate
Pilate

Biography:

Originally formed as Pilate in 1999, the Toronto-based rock quartet changed their name to "Pilot Speed" in mid-2006, in order to avoid possible lawsuits as their music spread internationally from their native Canada. Pilate were born in 2000 after vocalist and New Zealand native Todd Clark left the music program at the University of Western Ontario where he'd been studying and placed an ad online for potential bandmates. Bassist Ruby Bumrah, a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design

THE TRAVEL SONG - PILATE

capo II

[Verse]
C Am
The road seen beneath the van’s headlights,
C Am
It’s cold so cold, cold enough to feel your sigh
C Am
My face up against the window now, don’t you know it’s cold outside,
C Am G
Pick up your life as I pass by, can’t you see I’m cold inside

[Chorus]
F C F
We were poor but we had something,
Am G F
What wasn’t torn was poisoned by your fear,
C F
You wanted more, I gave you nothing,
Am G
I may be blind...

Each town, each town it seems the same my dear,
It’s loud tonight, your heart is ringing in my ear

Walk out the door across the street, don’t you know it’s cold outside,
Pick up the phone my signal’s weak, can’t you see I’m cold inside

I think you know...

We were poor but we had something,
What wasn’t torn was poisoned by your fear,
You wanted more, I gave you nothing,
I may be blind for I never saw your tears

[Interlude] {verse chords}

I think you know...

We were poor but we had something,
What wasn’t torn was poisoned by your fear,
You wanted more, I gave you nothing,
I may be blind for I never saw your tears,
As days pass by the gap it now appears,
When I come home please say that you’ll be there...
