Matt Gilman

Though You Were Rich

by Matt Gilman
Matt Gilman

Biography:

Matt Gilman has been leading worship since he was fourteen years old. It may seem unusual to some, but for Matt, leading worship seemed to be what God had created him to do. He is a worship leader at IHOP–KC and leads at many of TheCall events around the nation. His focus is on the holiness of the Lord and leading people in worship before the throne.

Awesome song by Matt Gilman. The lyrics with chords is online, but I thought it'll
be nice to have it on ultimate-guitar and not on a PDF file.

Verse 1:
G D/F# Em
Born a babe a virgin birth
G/B Am G/B D
My God the high and lofty One You came to earth
Em D C
To be a slave servant of all
G/B Am G/B D
You washed my feet You took my fall

Chorus:
G D/F#
Though You were rich, You became poor
Em C
That You would die, that I might live
G D/F#
You poured out Your soul even to death
Em C
Taking my sin just to forgive

Verse 2:
G D/F# Em
Then they led You down the road
G/B Am G/B
To a hill called Calvary
D Em D
You took the nails in Your hands and feet
C G/B Am G/B
You drank the cup of wrath that was reserved for me

(Chorus)

Verse 3:
G D/F# Em
Laid in the ground a stone cold tomb
G/B Am G/B
The wrath of God resting on You
D Em
You knew no sin yet sin became
D C G/B Am G/B D
From the foundation You were the Lamb who was slain

Verse 4:
G D/F# Em
Up from the grave You rose again
G/B Am G/B D
You hold the keys of death and hell You conquered sin
Em D C
You paid my debt a costly price
G/B Am G/B D
I know that I will be with You in paradise

(Chorus x2)
