Biography:
Mat Kearney (pronounced CARN-ee; born 1 December 1978 in Eugene, Oregon) is an American singer-songwriter based out of Nashville, TN, originally from Eugene, Oregon. His music has an acoustic base fused with hip hop. He is signed to Aware/Columbia Records. In addition to singing, he also plays guitar, piano and harmonica. I've been studying the patterns and style of Mat Kearney for a while now. After seeing
him play live, watching videos of him playing live, and slowing down the studio recording
of this song, I can confirm that this is how he plays the song.
Also, Mat Kearney makes a very quick switch to a G5
before jumping into the Chorus. You have to listen closely.
