[Verse 1]
G C
You run yourself ragged tryin' to be strong.
G C
You feel bad when you done nothin' wrong.
G C
Love got all confused with anger and pride.
G C
So much abuse on such a little child.
G C
Someone you trusted told you to shut up, now there's a
G C
pain in your gut that you can't get rid of.
G C
No one heard your screams, when you were nine. When
G C
bad dreams filled your summertime. So,

[Chorus]
G C
you don't always show your sweet side.
G C
You don't always show your sweet side.
G C
You don't always show your sweet side.
G C
You don't always show your sweet side.

[Verse 2]
G C
You're tough as steel and you keep your chin up.
G C
You don't ever feel like you're good enough.
G C
You've had the blues ever since you were six. Your
G C
little tennis shoes and your pick-up sticks. You were
G C
screamed at and kicked over and over. Now you
G C
always feel sick and you can't keep a lover.
G C
Every Christmas there were presents to unwrap but the
G C
things you witnessed when you were five and a half. So

[Chorus]
G C
you don't always show your sweet side.
G C
You don't always show your sweet side.
G C
You don't always show your sweet side.
G C
You don't always show your sweet side.

[Verse 3]
G C
Someone deserted you, the damage is done. Now
G C
you don't deserve to be loved by no one.
G C
Hands that would feed you, when you were two were the
G C
same hands that beat you black and blue.
G C
You get defensive at every turn. You're
G C
overly sensitive and overly concerned.
G C
Few precious memories no lullabies.
G C
Hollowed out centu-ries of lies. So

[Chorus]
G C
you don't always show your sweet side.
G C
You don't always show your sweet side.
G C
You don't always show your sweet side.
G C
You don't always show your sweet side.

[Verse 4]
G C
I've seen you in the kitchen cookin' me supper. I
G C
listened to you bitchin' and I watched you suffer.
G C
I still love you baby 'cause I know you. Don't
G C
mean to do the cruel things you do. I've
G C
seen you sewin' buttons on your shirt. I've
G C
seen you throwin' up when your stomach hurt.

G C
I'll stick by you baby through thick and thin. No
G C
matter what kind of shape you're in. 'Cause

[Chorus 2]
G C
I-iiii've seen your sweet side
G C
I-iiii've seen your sweet side
G C
I-iiii've seen your sweet side
G C
I-iiii've seen your sweet side

[Chorus 3]
G C
I've seen your sweet side baby.
G C
I've seen your sweet side.
G C
I've seen your sweet side baby.
G C
I've seen your sweet side.
