I walk the streets of Dublin town
Em C D
It's eighteen forty-two
Em D/F# G D
It's snowing on this Christmas Eve
Em C Em
Think I'll beg another bob or two
Am
I'll huddle in this doorway here
Em Bm
'Til someone comes along
Am
If the lamp lighter comes real soon
Em C D
Maybe I'll go home with him
G D/F# G C D
Maybe I can find a place I can call my home
Em Am Bm C
Maybe I can find a home I can call my own

[Verse 3]
(Spoken by a street urchin)
D C D C
These three wise kings, and, and they were all in different countries. And
D C D
they always used to look up at the sky and they looked up this night and saw
C D C
this beautiful star up in the sky. And when they were going they all meeted
D C D
together and whe.., you have.., they had to pass King Herod's place, not that
C D C
we much care for him. And they went in and, and he said, "And where yous
D
goin' with yer best stitches on ye?"

[Verse 4]
Em D/F# G D
The horses on the cobbled stones go by
Em C D
Think I'll get one, one fine day
Em D/F# G D
And ride into the countryside
Em C Em
And very far away
Am
But now as the daylight disappears
Em Bm
I best find a place to sleep
Am
Think I'll slip into the bell-tower
Em C D
In the church just down the street
G D/F# G C D
Maybe I can find a place I can call my home
Em Am Bm C
Maybe I can find a home I can call my own

[Verse 5]
(Spoken by a street urchin)
D C D
And they said, "Did you not hear the news?" and say he says, "What news?" He
C D
says, "This day the saviour is born." And he says to them, "When you find him,
C D C
come back and tell me 'cause I want to go and adore him too." And he was only
D C D
coddin' them. He wanted to kill him and when they were going, they stopped
C D C D
and they said, "Surely not this old stable that our king is born in. We were
C D
expecting a palace."

[Verse 6]
Em D/F# G D
Maybe on the way I'll find the dog
Em C D
I saw the other night
Em D/F# G D
And tuck him underneath my jacket so
Em C Em
We'll stay warm through the night
Am
And as we lie in the bell-tower high
Em Bm
And dream of days to come
Am
The bells o'er head will call the hours
Em C D
Some day we will find a home
G D/F# G C D
Maybe I can find a place I can call my home
Em Am Bm C D
Maybe I can find a home I can call my own
G D/F# G C D
