Biography:
Yaakov Shwekey (also known simply as "Shwekey") is an Orthodox Jewish singer. He was born in Jerusalem, Israel in 1977 and now resides in Deal, New Jersey. Shwekey is one of the most popular performers in the world of contemporary Hassidic popular music, a genre that, it's name notwithstanding, includes a range of Orthodox Jewish musicians beyond the Hassidic community. His songs are generally in Hebrew, with some in English, Yiddish and Aramaic, and often draw on middle-eastern influences.
