The Oh Hellos

Eurus

by The Oh Hellos
The Oh Hellos

Biography:

The Oh Hellos are Maggie Heath and Tyler Heath, intentionally-independent self-produced music-making siblings hailing from the great state of Texas. Their influences range from Los Campesinos! and The Lumineers to Sufjan Stevens and The Middle East, bending and blending styles and genres into a unique mixture of eclectic folk rock.

[Intro]
D x4
D D6 D D6 D6 x8

[Verse 1]
D D/F#* G*
Spinning that stone uphill again
Em/G* D
Like atonement for a bygone sin
D/F# G
Under the weight of it, my bones
Em/G D
Cracking like a dry branch in a westward wind

D/F#* G*
But Zeus and his pantheon of kin
Em/G* D
Take the first nine out of every ten
D/F# G
Minas, like lightning changing hands
Em
It all returns back to his pockets, in the end

[Chorus]
Gmaj7 Em/G Bm
You can't take any gold or rings further than the grave
D/A
Nothing we make can we bring
Gmaj7 Em
But still the bait hanging from the string is calling my name
Asus4 G
And like the wind it slips again
D
Out of my fingers

[Interlude]
D Gmaj7 D G

[Verse 2]
D D/F# G
As Fortuna sits idly by
Em D
I spin her wheel with all my might
D/F# G
Crushing my kin for warring-wage
Em D
Minted from the ivory of your tooth and eye

Dsus2/F# Gmaj7
Under the table where she dines
Em* D
I sit hungry with my mouth foamed white
Dsus2/F# Gmaj7*
Fighting for crumbs that trickle down
Em7
As she finishes her cake, then takes a bite from mine

[Chorus]
Gmaj7 Em/G Bm
You can't take any gold or rings further than the grave
D/A
Nothing we make can we bring
Gmaj7 Em
But still the bait hanging from the string is calling my name
Asus4 G
And like the wind it slips again
D
Out of my fingers

[Outro]
D D/G D D/G
D Bm Asus4 A Em G
D D6 D D6 D6 x8
