The Lover Speaks

No More I Love Yous

by The Lover Speaks
The Lover Speaks

Biography:

The Lover Speaks were a new wave duo consisting of London based singer/song writer David Freeman, and Joseph Hughes (arranger, composer). They sang the original version of the song "No More I Love You's'," which became a huge hit for Annie Lennox in 1995.

David was born in East London on September 25, 1957. As a teenager in the late 70s he began playing guitar in the British punk band The Flys, recording two studio albums and a clutch of singles on EMI, Harvest and Parlophone.

TUNING:
It's likely the backing tracks were sped up at the mixing stage,
which makes the song sound sharp of concert pitch. To be able to
play along, use a chromatic tuner, and tune all strings up approx. +25

For the verses in the tab I've used a sequence that is more like Annie Lennox's
cover version, as it works much better for a single guitar accompaniment.
Alternatively, instead of the Dadd9 -A/D -G/D -A/D sequence, use the syncopated
arpeggios, which are on The Lover Speaks version intro, throughout the verses too,
where it goes from the Dadd9 to an alternating D and D6 at that same fret position:

Dadd9 = xx0770 D = xx0775 D6 = xx0777

I would use the middle and ring fingers to play the Dadd9, then the index
to add the note on the 1st string to make the D chord, and the little
finger to add and remove the note at the 7th fret for the syncopated D to D6.

Dadd9 = xx0770 Bm = x24432 F#m7/C# = x42222
A/D = xx0220 C#m = x46654 G/B = x20033
G/D = xx0033 E4 = 022200 A7sus4 = x02030
D * = xx0232 A7 = x02223
