The Flatlanders

South Wind Of Summer

by The Flatlanders
The Flatlanders

Biography:

The Flatlanders is an American country band from Lubbock, Texas, founded in 1972 by Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Butch Hancock.

The fact that all that these Texas music titans, on their first go-round as The Flatlanders in 1972, were completely rejected by the country music establishment is surprising in retrospect but, ultimately, poetic. Slow waltz type flavour (texas style)

A G A

A C G
When the south wind of summer
D
Sings through the trees
A G
And the high mountain thunder

Hangs low in the breeze

A strong heart flows over, an empty heart fills

And the south wind of summer caresses the hills

There is no returning, the seasons don?t end

They just blow through the branches

And bend with the wind
