Taylor Giacoma

Kissaka 1

by Taylor Giacoma
Taylor Giacoma

Biography:

Singer-songwriter-pianist Taylor Giacoma is quickly becoming known on the indie music scene for a distinctive style that has been described both as folky pop and poppy folk - and is probably neither. Originally learning to sing and play piano by ear and later classically-trained, her music is both easily accessible and remarkably complex. Her lyrics are unusually intellectual and highly narrative, taking the listener on uniquely intimate and yet wonderfully universal journeys of love, loss, and perseverance.

[Verse 1]

N.C.
Hey pink flamingo girl I heard they let you

Out of the zoo in your Izuzu

Am Am/G Am/F
But did they let you go real far

Am/E D7
Or just around the block

Am
While the zookeeper watched from your cage

D7
Heaven forbid you should think for yourself

Am Am/E Am/F# Am/G#
At this age

Am Am/B Am/C Am/D
Hush little baby don't say a word

Am Am/B Am/C Am/D
Your mama's got a nasty grudge

Am Am/G Am/F
And if she lets it go too far

Am/E D7
She'll have the zebras wondering

Am
What she's been up to at night

D7
Some of these things

Am
Don't break down well into black and white

And mama don't like grey

[Chorus]

Am D G Am D G Am
La dee da, la dee da,

D G Am D E7 Am
Kissaka, la dee da

[Verse 2]

Am/B Am/C Am/D
Been reading your Canterbury tales

Am Am/B Am/C Am/D
Just to see what you're up to

Am Am/G Am/F
And if I flip to the back page

Am/E D7
What will it say about the day

Am
You got too good

D7
Much as I hate to admit it

Am Am/E Am/F# Am/G#
I knew that you would

Am Am/B Am/C Am/D
This little piggy went to the city

Am Am/B Am/C Am/D
Looking for a way to be

Am Am/G Am/F Am/E
Be careful what you wish for honey

D7
'Cause me and the tooth fairy

Am
Drink every Saturday night

D7
One of these days

Am
Gonna tell him to go put you right

And what's behind that smile

[Chorus]

Am D G Am D G Am
La dee da, talkin’ ‘bout la dee da,

D G Am D E7
Kissaka, la dee da

[Bridge]

Am Am/G Am/F Am/E D7

Am Am/G Am/F Am/E D7

Am Am/G Am/F Am/E D7

Am Am/G Am/F Am/E D7

Am Am/G Am/F Am/E D7

Am Am/G Am/F Am/E D7

You're a big girl now honey
