Split Enz

Hello Sandy Allen

by Split Enz
Split Enz

Biography:

Split Enz was one of the most successful and longest running bands ever to emerge from New Zealand. Founded in 1972 by Tim Finn and Phil Judd, and with a variety of other members during its existence, eight songs Split Enz were listed in the APRA Top 100 New Zealand Songs of All Time, more than any other band. The band played its final show on 4 December 1984 in Auckland. One-off reunions took place subsequently, with the band reuniting in 1993 for its twentieth anniversary tour and once more for a tour in 2006.

D G A D G A
Hello Sandy Allen, the world's tallest woman.
D G A D G A
We made friends in New York, don't know if you'll remember.
G A Bm C G A D
I'm bound to say I felt uneasy, when I first laid eyes on you.

D G A D G A
But I liked the way you talked, like a living hoper,
D G A D G A
Towering over our heads, in more ways than one.
G A Bm C G A Em
The hand that shook my hand was awesome, it still amazes me

D Gm D A
Hope you're happy Sandy Allen, Hope your garden is blooming,
D Gm D A
We're all staring at the mirror, tryin' to put our fa-ces on,
D A
Appearance never held you back,
D A D A
Must be when you're number one, you don't have to try so hard.
