Four years of hard work!

This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!

this is mostly just what the bass is doing, it works just fine as chords to play this unplugged-style. the
persistent choppy guitar is mostly just

5 5 5 5 7 7 7 7
5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5

but i don't know that there's much way to work that in if you're not playing on top of a bassline so i just
left them out. The D# just before the chorus is just a passing tone so you could easily leave it out
completely; if you do play it, rather than barring it to play it properly I just slide up from D for xxx343
and then play the Em of the chorus as xxx453. It's got closer to the right sound anyway.

Intro/Verse:

G Bm Em Am C

G Bm
I promise everything's alright, it's just I think of you sometimes

Em
I like to stay up after midnight and listen for the chimes

Am C
We used to hear...so loud and clear

D D#
But I haven't heard that song in years

Chorus:

Em D Am
A wise old man was once heard to say

"The things that always cause us the most pain

Em D
Are those from which we are always

Am
The least prepared to walk away

C D Em
That's probably why I had you on the brain.

Verse 2:

G Bm
When I learned I couldn't count on you when I was my most desperate

Em
When nothing that you said was true, and breaking down my es-

Am C
p-rit des corps (...) was your most beloved chore

Still I couldn't close the iron door

G Bm
I saved a little face; it was a fool's economy

Em
It ended in disgrace, screaming "get the hell away from me"

Am
I put you in your place. I knew you wouldn't stay there

C D D#
But you had such vulgar taste, you even had the gall to ask for car fare

Chorus 2:

Em D Am
I thought of calling you up yesterday,

And then I came rushing back to my good senses

Em D
It was all I could do just to obey:

Am C D Em
I started hearing voices warning me to make good choices

Solo break (if you keep it at all, which if you're playing by yourself, I wouldn't)/Verse 3:

G Bm Em Am C

G Bm
I saw your shadow play and thought "What kind of farce is this?"

Em
But what I said was "a dying breed." Your smile was disarming

Am C
'Cause nothing is more charming than a narcissist with whom you've just agreed

D D# Em
Make good choices, thank you very much indeed

Chorus 3:

Em D Am
I used to dream of you nightly; I would wake up screaming

Em D Am
I'll try to put it politely: when you're not near my heart rejoices. Don't come near me, make good choices.

Em D Am
Your face was perfectly straight; you said that, "Basically,

Em D Am
Most people hate their friends," and I say it depends- I have so much, so much I want to tell you,

C D Em
And nowhere to begin.
