Bright Sunny South – SAm Amidon

hello friends of sAm Amidon and friends of this song :
i´ve tried so much different things on guitar
but i haven´t found the style as sAm Amidon plays this song.
so please, if you know something better than the chords i posted below,
i will be happy if you correct me and this tab.
the chords i found are simple - too simple ?

Intro and in between the verses : Am G (play all chords barré on 5th and 3rd fret)

1.
Am G
In the bright sunny south, in peace and content
Am G
These days of my boyhood I scarcely have spent
Am G
From the deep flowing spring to the broad flowing streAm
Am G
Ever dear to my memory, sweeter is my dreAm

2.
Am G
I lay my confinement and comfort of life
Am G
The dangers of warfare, provision and strife
Am G
I have come to come close and reply with my word
Am G
As I shoulder my musket, belted my sword

3.
Am G
My father looked sad as he bid me to part
Am G
My mother embraced me with anguish of heart
Am G
And my beautiful sister looked pale in her woe
Am G
As she hugged me and blessed me, told me to go

4.
Am G
Dear father, dear father for me do not weep
Am G
I'm a lonesome man and I mean for to keep
Am G
The dangers of war I intend for to share
Am G
And for sickness and death I intend to prepare

5.
Am G
Dear mother, dear mother for me do not weep
Am G
For a mother´s kind voice I ever will keep
Am G
You have taught me be brave from a boy to a man
Am G
And I'm going in defense of her own native land

6.
Am G
Dear sister, dear sister, I'm afeared of your woe
Am G
Your grief and your sorrow, they trouble me so
Am G
I must be going, for here I cannot stand
Am G
I'm going in defense of her own native land
