Ruby Gill

Your Mum

by Ruby Gill
Ruby Gill

Biography:

It's not every day you hear about a performer from South Africa.

19 year old singer-songtress Ruby Gill has burst into the music scene and is taking it by storm. With flowy, simplistic vocals such as Ingrid Michaelson and A Fine Frenzy, honest lyrics are the key to Gill's songs.

At the tender age of 14, she released her first album Breath in C Minor. Gill followed that achievement with To Risk Our Hearts late in 2013. Her first single off the album, Three Sixty Five, trended on YouTube during its first 24 hours.

[Verse 1]
G C D
Should I write a song to lean upon
G C D
Or close these wretched blinds?
G C D
And do I tell you all that's going wrong
G C D
Or just pretend I'm fine?

[Pre-Chorus]
G C D
I'm sorry for cryin' so loud
G C D
And I'm sorry for wakin' you in the early hours
G C D
I know you are trying to get some rest
G C D
You've got work in the mornin', got to look your best

[Chorus]
G C D
And I know I don't cook like your mum
G C D
And I know I don't cook like your mum

[Verse 2]
G C D
Should I crawl back through into the bed
G C D
Or couch it here alone?
G C D
And do I retract every statement said
G C D
Or just let them evolve?
Am C D
Where were you when I was on my knees
Am C D
Crying for a family?
Am C D
And where were you when I was breakin' at the seams?
Am D
Did you think I was fine? Do I look fuckin' fine?

[Pre-Chorus]
G C D
I, I, I, I'm sorry for cryin' so loud
G C D
And I'm sorry for wakin' you in the early hours
G C D
I know you are trying to get some rest
G C D
You've got work in the mornin', got to look your best

[Chorus]
G C D
And I know I don't cook like your mum

And I know I don't cook like your mum
G C D
And I know I don't cook like your mum

And I know I don't cook like your mum

But I'm trying to love her son
