[Intro]
G C Em C

[Verse]
Em
I can hear the wind whisper my name
G
Tellin’ me it’s time to head out again
D
My horses are trailered and the lights are shut down
C
I’m long overdue for headin’ outta town
Em
Gotta fever that they call the rodeo
G
Just enough winnin’s to make the next show
D
Sometimes you make eight, sometimes you hit dirt
C
Go on pin another number to the back of my shirt…

[Chorus]
G D C
And I’ll ride that pony fast
G D C
Like a cowboy from the past
G D C
Be young and wild and free
G D C
Like Texas in 1880
G D G
Just like Texas in 1880

[Verse]
Em
Awe, from Phoenix to Tulsa to the Astro Dome
G
From New York City down to San Antone
D
There’s boys that are ridin’ for legendary fame
C
And our money’s all gone but they still ride the same
Em
Our hearts are getting’ broken

And our heads are getting’ busted
G
We’ll always believe in the things that we trusted
D
They’ll be those nights when glory comes round
C
And we’ll tip our hats and wave to the crowd…

[Chorus]
G D C
And I’ll ride that pony fast
G D C
Like a cowboy from the past
G D C
Be young and wild and free
G D C
Like Texas in 1880
G D G
Just like Texas in 1880

[Bridge]
D
Someday when you’re older someone’ll see
Em
That buckle hangin’ there on your belt
C
Askin’ just how it felt…

[Chorus]
G D C
And I’ll ride that pony fast
G D C
Like a cowboy from the past
G D C
Be young and wild and free
G D C
Like Texas in 1880
G D G
Just like Texas in 1880

[Outro]
G C Em C
