[Verse 1]
A E Bm F#m
Man worried about the big bomb flying, worried about the ocean rising,
A E Bm F#m
Thinkin' on the day that he'd die, an' wondered if he were ever alive,
A E Bm F#m
On the same day, he saw the big blue sky, was the same day, they were closing his eyes.

[Verse 2]
A E Bm F#m
Man thinking on the history train, an' wondered if he's partly to blame,
A E Bm F#m
Man torturing himself in his sleep, men love, men lose, men weep,
A E Bm F#m
On the same day, he saw a shift in his luck, was the same day he stopped givin a fuck.

[Chorus 1]
A E D F#m
I lit the small fire, ma, I don't know who lit the big one.
A E D F#m
I lit the small fire, ma, I don't know who lit the big one.
A E D F#m
I lit the small fire, ma, I don't know who lit the big one.

[Verse 3]
A E Bm F#m
Worried about the run in his veins, worried about the blood in his dreams,
A E Bm F#m
Scared sick, he's got a shake in his hands, scared stiff of what he don't understand-ey,
A E Bm F#m
you wanna sing like the little birds sing, bring yourself 'round and forget the whole thing.

[Pre-Chorus]
A E D F#m
Da-ba-da-da-da-dab-da Da-ba-da-da-da-dab-da
A E D F#m
Da-ba-da-da-da-dab-da Da-ba-da-da-da-dab-da

A E D F#m
I lit the small fire, ma, I don't know who lit the big one.

I lit the small fire, I don't know who lit the big one.
