No Myth (Michael Penn)

[Verse]
C Am C Am F G
So, she says it's time she goes
F G
But wanted to be sure I know
C Am
She hopes we can be friends
C Am C Am F G
I think, yeah I guess we can say I
F Em
But didn't think to ask her why
F E
She blocked her eyes and drew the curtains
Am Am/G? Cmaj7 ----> Am/G is 3X2210
with knots I've got yet to untie

[Chorus]
F Am C
What if I were Romeo in black jeans?
F Am G Cmaj7
What if I was Heathcliff it's no myth
F
Maybe she's just looking for
G Bb
Someone to dance with

[Verse]
See, it was just to soon to tell
And looking for some parallel
Can be an endless game
We, we said goodbye before hello
My secrets she will never know
And if I dig a hole to China
I'll catch the first junk to Soho

[Chorus]
Bb Dm
Sometime from now you'll bow to pressure
C Am
Some things in life you cannot measure by degrees
Bb Dm
I'm between the poles and the equator
C E7
Don't send no private investigator to find me please
E
'less he speaks Chinese
Am Am/G?
And can dance like Astaire overseas

Cmaj7
Okay?

(Bridge - chords are the same as the Chorus.)

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

--------

This is how I hack it out, anyway. (I think this is right... did it mostly
from memory without having my guitar here.) It's probably a little
simplified. One note: Penn plays all of his F's as barre chords in the
first position (113211) to get a richer sound, but it sounds OK if you
don't.

Someone recently requested this, so here's my version:

"No Myth" by Michael Penn transcribed by MH from the album "March"
EDITED by maguri August 2015
---------------------------

Notes:
** I think one of the chords in the chorus is Dm played
at the fifth fret (557765).
*** I think MP says "on hashish" instead of "overseas"
