[INTRO]
C D C D G

[VERSE]
G
It's a noisy cowboy place to come
C
All the hats are having fun
G
Raising glasses, raising hell
D
And by their faces I can tell
C D G
That I stick out just like a broken thumb

G
Then I spot you in the back
C
And I adjust my mountain hat
G
I blush as I walk through the smoke
D
And sit by you, dry in the throat
C D G
A crush is what I have

G
I say "I'm glad you've got some time to spend.
C
I think the drought may finally end.
G
And you may notice by the looks of me
D
That my knees aren't what they used to be.
C D G
These old willows hardly bend."

[CHORUS]
C G
And I'm a man out of water here
D G
You're the pond, calm and clear.
C G
They say people fear the hot and dry
D
But that the flood will do them in.
C D
I said the day I spill my heart
C D G
Will be the day I finally swim.

[VERSE]
G
So we sit and talk in our corner
C
And catch up on all the small town rumor
G
Til a cowboy tips a cowboy over
D
And another bumps into our table
C D G
And our drinks fall on the floor.

G
And I'm sure both of us are thirsty
C
But the scuffle has you in a hurry
G
And where do thirsty people go
D
When there's too many in the water hole
C D G
And so the evening ends too early.

[CHORUS]
C G
And I'm a man out of water here
D G
You're the pond, calm and clear.
C G
They say people fear the hot and dry
D
But that the flood will do them in.
C D
I said the day I spill my heart
C D G
Will be the day I finally swim.

[VERSE]
G
So we never had the chance to talk
C
And something tells me we may not
G
Things we could've said so easy
D
While the striking of the iron was hot
C
Before the crush was gone
D G
And melting by the drop.

G
And I suppose we may meet again,
C
Down the road but who knows when?
G
And if we do I hope that next time
D
We'll be as thirsty as the last time
C D G
And there'll be time for diving in.

[CHORUS]
C G
And I'm a man out of water here
D G
You're the pond, calm and clear.
C G
They say people fear the hot and dry
D
But that the flood will do them in.
C D
I said the day I spill my heart
C D G
Will be the day I finally swim.

C D
I said the day I spill my heart
C D G
Will be the day I finally swim.
