The Cries In Our Eyes

by Mark Gormley
Mark Gormley

Biography:

Mark Gormley is a singer and songwriter from Pensacola, Florida who wrote and recorded songs in 1977 which were not released until 2009. He is known for his soulful voice and redefining the power stance.

Having decided to give up pursuing a career as a musician, Gormley didn't release his music to the public until his first music video was filmed in 2006. Gormley was given a platform when his music videos appeared on The Uncharted Zone, a weekly public-access television music show that plays original and cover videos by local artists.

[Intro]:
Em Cmaj7 Gmaj7 Esus (x4)

Em Bm C A5 Gmaj7 (x2)

[Verse 1]:
Em
In the time
Bm
Of silent rememberings
Em
The days have gone cold
Bm
And the chill of the wind
Em
Bites deep into the soul
Bm
The days have grown old
Em
I'm afraid
Bm
I can't stay
Em
I don't know
Bm
But it shows

[Chorus]
C Dmaj7 Em
As we see through the cries in our eyes
C Gmaj7 Em
Can we reach, this time beginning
C Dmaj7 Em
The years of our fears disappear
C Gmaj7 Em
As we sense the silent awakening

Bm Em Bm

[Verse 2]
Em
Shattered dreams

Bm
Empty love affairs
Em
The hollow feeling there
Bm
The feelings we bear
Em
The hearts that bleed
Bm
The dream of peace
Em
And the empty stares
A5 Gmaj7
And the soul that's always been here

[Chorus]
C Dmaj7 Em
As we see through the cries in our eyes
C Gmaj7 Em
Can we reach, this time beginning
C Dmaj7 Em
The years of our fears disappear

Bm

[Verse 3]
Em
Moving fast
Bm
Living in the past
Em
How long do we last
Bm
It seemed it was just you and me
Em
Living in a dream
Bm
Under the night's screen
Em
And the scarlet stream
A5 Gmaj7
A life in amore, can you show me more

[Chorus]
C Dmaj7 Em
As we see through the cries in our eyes
C Gmaj7 Em
Can we reach, this time beginning
C Dmaj7 Em
The years of our fears disappear
C Gmaj7 Em
As we sense the silent awakening

Bm C A5 Gmaj7

[Verse 4]
Em
Bitterness
Bm
The wantful suicide kiss
Em
The hate in our eyes
Bm
We reach for the skies
Em
It's us all alone
Bm
How can we be strong
Em
It's not in our lives
Bm
And if our future lies

[Chorus]
C Dmaj7 Em
As we see through the cries in our eyes
C Gmaj7 Em
Can we reach, this time beginning
C Dmaj7 Em
The years of our fears disappear
C Gmaj7 Em
As we sense the silent awakening

C Dmaj7 Em
As we see through the cries in our eyes
C Gmaj7 Em
Can we reach, this time beginning
C Dmaj7 Em
The years of our fears disappear
C Gmaj7 Em
As we sense the silent awakening

Bm C A5 Gmaj7

Em (barred).

Notes:
I think this is pretty accurate, but the strumming might be a little bit weird if you're following
the original song, but if you play it by yourself you'll have no problems with these chords.
