C Dm
There's a man at my house, he's so big and strong
C Dm
He goes to work each day, and he stays all day long
C Dm
He comes home each night looking tired and beat
C Dm
He sits down at the dinner table and has a bite to eat

C Dm
Never a frown always a smile
C Dm
When he says to me how's my child
C Dm
I said that I've been studying hard all day in school
C Dm
Tryin' very hard to understand the golden rule

C F
I think I'll color him father
C G
I think I'll color him love
C F
I'm gonna color him father
C G
I think I'll color him love

Em Dm
He says education is a thing to complete
Em Dm
Because without it, life just ain't very sweet
Em Dm
I love this man and I don't know why
Em Dm
Except I'll need his strength until the day that I die

C F
I think I'll color him father
C G
I'm gonna color him love
C F
I got to color him father
C G
I think I'll color him love

C Dm
Our real old man he got killed in the war
C Dm
And momma and seven kids couldn't gotten very far
C Dm
She said she thought that she could never love again
C Dm
And then there he stood with that big wide grin
Em Dm
He married my mother, he took us in
Em Dm
And now we belong to the man with that big wide grin

C F
I got to color him father
C G
I'm gonna color him love
C F
I got to color him father
C G
I think I'll color him love
