The Church

Tantalized

by The Church
The Church

Biography:

The Church is an alternative rock band which formed in Sydney, Australia in 1980. Initially linked in with neo-psychedelia acts of the period, their music later became largely defined by the interplay of guitarists Marty Willson-Piper and Peter Koppes coupled with the abstract lyrics of bassist/singer Steve Kilbey. Their debut album, Of Skins and Heart (1981), earned them their first radio hit "The Unguarded Moment". They were originally signed to EMI's Parlophone label

[Intro]
A Asus4 Asus2 A7

A G A G
God, I've been asleep so long, I've been away
A G A G
Back from software limbo the natives call today
A G
I let their promises bind me
A G
I let seductive logic blind me
A G
I embraced a machine, I went through the routine
A G
And I hid from the people who were trying to find me

[Chorus 1]
Am Csus
'Til the day comes when you realize
G Esus E
Otherwise you never care
Am Csus
Pandora's Box reveals a new surprise
G Esus E
Can't wait to see your eyes, now you've been tantalized

A G A G
For a hundred and one voluptuous days I broke the law
A G A G
The labyrinth was closing, so we panicked up a door
A G
I let their wanton flesh obsess me
A G
I felt their dreams and drugs assess me
A G
I was hired and fired yet never inspired
A G
Flattering, chattering words to impress me

[Chorus 2]
Am Csus
All that glittered had me mesmerized
G Esus E
Otherwise, I would have dared
Am Csus
To guess the nature of our enterprise
G Esus E
I Can't stop to sympathize, when you've been tantalized

[BREAK]

A D G D G A

A G A G
I turned up in some harsh doomed city on another plane
A G A G
I couldn't believe the room I got or the guests I entertained
A G
I felt the dirty streets surround me
A G
I let the buzzing swarm confound me
A G
I gave money to ghosts, I insulted my hosts
A
I could never get off the stuff that spellbound me

[Chorus 1]
Am Csus
'Til the day comes when you realize
G Esus E
Otherwise you never care
Am Csus
Pandora's Box reveals a new surprise
G Esus E
Can't wait to see your eyes, now you've been tantalized

[Chorus 2]
Am Csus
All that glittered had me mesmerized
G Esus E
Otherwise, I would have dared
Am Csus
Guess the nature of our enterprise
G Esus E
Can't stop to sympathize, how you've been tantalized
