The Week of Living Dangerously
Steve Earle
A
Well I got outa work and I headed for the neighborhood beer joint
E A
I sat around and had a beer with the boys like I always do
D A
Well I didn’t have nothin’ to say and well there aint no point
E A
There’s something about a Monday that always makes me blue
A A
Well it was way after dark so I knew my wife and kids were waitin’ E
A
And I guess I took a left where I generally take a right D
A
Well I filled ‘er up with gas and checked the oil at the Texaco station E
A
I threw the car seat into the dumpster and headed out into the night

BRIDGE
D G A
Woooo-ooo-oo-oo blue mood. (moon?) E
A
There’s somethin’ ‘bout a Monday that always makes me blue

E A
Well I headed south on 35 hell bent for vinyl
E A
I’d never had the truck up past 75 before D
A
Well there’s something ‘bout that little red line always looked so final
E A
Buddy you’d be surprised how fast a Chevrolet truck can go
E A
Now in Mexico they got a little place called Boy’s Town
E A
Where a man is still a man if you know what I’m talkin’ about
D A
Well I walked into the Cadillac Bar and I laid my cash down
E A
I said “There’s plenty more where that came from.” And the lights went out

BRIDGE
D G A
Woooo-ooo-oo-oo blue mood. (moon?)
E A
There’s somethin’ ‘bout a Monday that always makes me blue

Instrumental break
E E A A E E A A D D A A E E A A

E A
Well I woke up in the county jail across the line in Laredo
E A
I had a headache and the deputy was a starin’ at me through the door
D A
He said “how you got across that river alive I don’t know,
E A
But you wife just made your bail so now your in her debt for sure.”
E A
Now my wife she called my boss and she lied so I got my job back
E A
And the boys down at the plant they whisper and stare at me
D A
Well my wife she finds a lot of little jobs to keep me on the right track
E A
That’s a small price to pay for a week of living dangerously
D G A
Woooo-ooo-ooo-oo blue me
E A
That’s a small price to pay for a week of living dangerously
E E A A E E A A D D A A E E A A
