Living Next Door To Alice Smokie
______________________________________________________________________________

SMOKIE SING THIS IN THE KEY OF A
______________________________________________________________________________

Verse 1

G
Sally called and she got the word.
C D G D
She said I suppose you've heard, about Alice.
G
When I rushed to the window, and I looked outside
C
I could hardly believe my eyes.
D G D
And the big limousine pulled up, in Alices drive.

Chorus.

G
Oh, I don’t know why she's leaving, or where she's gunna go
C
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don’t wanna know
D G D
Cause for 24 years I’ve been living next door to Alice
G
24 years just waiting for the chance
C
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
D C G
Now I gotta get used to not living next door to Alice

Verse 2

G
We walked together, two kids in the park
C D G D
We inscribed our initials deep in the bark, me and Alice
G
Now she walks to the door with her head held high
C
Just for a moment I caught her eye
D G D
As the big limousine pulls slowly, out of Alices drive

Chorus.

D C G D
Now I gotta get used to not living next door to Alice

Verse 3 QUIETER

G
And Sally called back and asked how I felt
C D G D
And she said I know how to help, get over Alice
G
She said, now Alice is gone, but I’m still here
C D
You know I’ve been waiting for 24 years (PAUSE THE PLAYING)

And the big limousine disappeared.

Chorus.

D C G
But I’ll never get used to not living next door to Alice

D C G C G
No I’ll never get used to not living next door to Alice
