The version I first posted (and is posted at
other places on UG) sounds good, it really
does, but this is how M20 play it. I'll leave
the original version I posted here, just in case.
The words in (brackets) are still applicable.

That's it, M20's version of Long Day. Enjoy and happy playing!

OK, I got a version of this, but I thought that there was room for some improvements. So
it is, my version of Long Day. It works for me, maybe it'll work for me I'm not sure,
hope it does. Cheers . . .

Chords:
G Am F C
1-3---0---1---0-|
2-3---1---1---1-|
3-0---2---2---0-|
4-0---2---3---2-|
5-2---0---3---3-|
6-3---x---1---x-|

Verse One: (Gentle, but not too soft)
G
It's sitting by the overcoat
Am
The second shelf the notes she wrote
F C G
That I can't bring myself to throw away
F
And also
G Am
Reach she said for no one else but you
F
'Cause you won't turn away
C G
When someone else is gone

Pause, then come into 2nd part of verse one louder, heavier, maybe with a bit of
I don’t really know, I don’t have an electric, only electric acoustic.
G
I'm sorry 'bout the attitude
Am
I need to give when I'm with you
F C G
But no one else will take this shit from me
F
And I'm so
G Am
Terrified of no one else but me

F
I'm here all the time
C G
And I won't go away

Pre-chorus:

(Gentle, single strums----------------------------)
Am F C G
It's me, yeah well I can't get myself to go away

(-------------------)(Harder, louder, multiple strums again)
G Am F C
He-ey, it's me, and I can't get myself to go away

Oh God, I shouldn't feel this way now

Chorus:
Am
Reach down your hand into your pocket
F
Pull out some hope for me
C G
It's been a long day, always say ain't that right
Am
But no Lord, your hand won't stop it
F
Just keep you trembling
C G F
It's been a long day, always say ain't that right

Verse Two:
G
Well, I'm surprised that you believe
Am
In anything that comes from me
F C G
I didn't hear from you or someone else
F
And you’re so

G
Set in life man, a pisser they're waiting
Am F
Too damn bad you get so far so fast
C G
So what, so long

Chorus:
Am
Reach down your hand into your pocket
F
Pull out some hope for me
C G
It's been a long day, always say ain't that right
Am
But no Lord, your hand won't stop it
F
Just keep you trembling
C G F
It's been a long day, always say ain't that right

Now comes the solo. Play the chorus under it, I'm pretty sure, but maybe just play
see what you can come up with for yourself.

Pre-chorus:

(Gentle, single strums----------------------------)
Am F C G
It’s me, yeah well I can’t get myself to go away

(-------------------)(Harder, louder, multiple strums again)
G Am F C
He-ey, it’s me, and I can’t get myself to go away

Oh God, I shouldn’t feel this way now

Chorus:

(Two strums, down down)
Am
Reach down your hand into your pocket

(Three, down down up)
F
Pull out some hope for me

(Heavier, louder, strums, multiple again)
C G
It’s been a long day, always say ain’t that right

(Two strums, down down)
Am
But no Lord, your hand won’t stop it

(Three, down down up
F
Just keep you trembling

(Heavier, louder, strums, multiple again)
C G F
It’s been a long day, always say ain’t that right

Then I play the chorus again normally, but Rob sings the word ‘Right’ over and over
and stuff or something or other, and I haven’t figured that bit out yet but, I just play the
again normally, then play the last F chord, and hold, fade out.

This should all be right, but I'm not too sure if I've put the chord letters eg G C Am F
the right words because I first did this on Microsoft Word, then copied and pasted, and
re-arranged most of the letters. I think it's all right though, but maybe not 100% the way I play it.

Anyway, this is how I play it, barring any little mistakes I may have made with the
. . . Enjoy!
