Biography:
Thomas Earl Petty (20 October 1950 - 2 October 2017) was an American musician, singer, composer and songwriter best known for fronting Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Apart from the band, he released three solo albums: "Full Moon Fever" (1989), "Wildflowers" (1994) and "Highway Companion" (2006).
After working with his early bands The Sundowners, The Epics, and Mudcrutch (which also included future Heartbreakers members Mike Campbell and Benmont

In the verses the ring finger stays on the 3rd string
throughout. From Am, move the middle finger to the 6th string
for the D7/F# (don't play 1st string), the Gadd9 is formed
with index finger off the 2nd string and little finger on the
6th string, the middle finger moves across to the 5th string
(don't play 1st string), then resolve back to the Am again.
In the choruses the little finger stays on the 1st string
through the C -G -D4 progressions.

D7/F# = 20021x C = x32013 D = xx0232
Gadd9 = 32020x G = 320003 Dadd4 = x54030
At the end of Choruses: Either play the 1st inversion D and D4,
