John Coffey

Relief

by John Coffey
John Coffey

Biography:

John Coffey was formed in 2005 in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

Begin 2012 John Coffey tore down a small pub somewhere in Groningen during the Eurosonic
Festival. 30 minutes of sheer guitar loudness left the audience in awe with ringing ears and renewed punkrock hope. It got them a record deal on German based Redfield Records. Distribution in the
Benelux will be done by Suburban Records and bookings are done by Rock ‘n Roll
Highschool in the Netherlands and Sparta Bookings in Europe.

[Verse 1]

Em
We walk great lengths to grow fair and tall
D C
Grasping everything that's beneath the sun
Em
Oh how would the mighty be at all
D C
If not for their knees to fall upon

[Pre-chorus]

F# G F#
Slowly the Stones will grind to sand
G (Play chord once)
and the seas will understand and wash it all away

[Verse 2]

Em
I get what you want, but not who you are.
D C
But my faith was strong, is it fiction now?
Em
With peace of mind I'll rest in my case,
D C
Hoping that my hopes won't die in the ground

[Chorus]

Em B C G
And the sacred and scared they share the same a-air
Em Em
deep in our soul, we know we are both
Em B
And then we strain our shoulders
C G C
searching for relief

[Verse 3]

Em
A bible to comfort
D C
feels like home to me, feels like home to me
Em D C
I'd like to see you alive so da-ance

[Pre-chorus]

F# G F#
Slowly the Stones will grind to sand
G (Play chord once)
and the seas will understand and wash them all away

[Chorus]

Em B C G
And the sacred and scared they share the same a-air
Em Em
deep in our soul, we know we are both
Em B
And then we strain our shoulders
C G C
searching for relief

[Chorus]

Em B C G
And the sacred and scared they share the same a-air
Em Em
deep in our soul, we know we are both
Em B
And then we strain our shoulders
C G C
searching for relief
