India.Arie

Just Let It Go

by India.Arie
India.Arie

Biography:

India.Arie, born India Arie Simpson on October 3, 1975, in Denver, Colorado.
She absorbed musical skill early in life, encouraged by both parents: her mother, Joyce, herself a former singer, and now India Arie's stylist; and her father, former ABA and NBA basketball player Ralph Simpson (not former NBA star player Ralph Sampson, as has been mistakenly reported in some media). She had taken up a succession of musical instruments throughout her schooling in Denver

[Intro]
G

[Verse 1]
G
You've been through so much
D G
So many ups and downs
G
You've given your love
D G
But never liked the way it turned out
G
You closed off your heart
D G
And you carried the weight
C C/B A D
Like a million rocks on your shoulders
C Am
But you don't have to wait for an apology
G D Em
Or for someone else to make amends
C
When you can remember
Am D
That your healing is in your hands

[Chorus]
G D Em
Just let it go, inch by inch
G D G
Just let it go, and do it again
G D Em
Just let it go, one day you'll see
G D Em
Just let it go, you set yourself free

[Verse 2]
G
You've been used
D Em
You've been abused
G
Someone came along
D G
Who didn't value you
G
You carried the weight
D G
Of your heart
C C/B A D
Like a million rocks on your shoulders
C Am
But life isn't meant to be perfect
G D Em
And we won't always win
C
But can you remember
Am D
That your healing is in your hands?

[Chorus]
G D Em
Just let it go, inch by inch
G D G
Just let it go, and do it again
G D Em
Just let it go, one day you'll see
G D Em
Just let it go, you set yourself free

Just let it go

[Verse 3]
G
Gave it your all
D G
You put your blinders on
G
When you looked around
D G
All of your friends were gone
G
You took the fall
D G
And you carried the weight
C C/B A D
Like a million rocks on your shoulders

[Chorus]
G D Em
Just let it go, inch by inch
G D Em
Just let it go, and do it again
G D Em
Just let it go, one day you'll see
G D Em
Just let it go, you've set yourself free
G D Em
Just let it go, and set yourself free
G D Em
Just let it go, and set yourself free
G D Em
Just let it go, and set yourself free

Let it go
G D Em
Just let it go, and set yourself free
G D Em
Your healing is in your hands
G D Em
Just let it go, and it's all just so simple
G D Em
Your healing is in your hands
G D Em
Just let it go, and it's all just so simple
G D Em
Your healing is in your hands
G D Em
Just let it go, and it's all just so simple
G D Em
Your healing is in your hands
G
Now set yourself free
