Ellen and The Escapades

All The Crooked Scenes

by Ellen and The Escapades
Ellen and The Escapades

Biography:

Ellen and the Escapades are a British folk-pop band from Leeds UK, formed in 2009. Unfortunately, the band decided to split in 2015.

In 2009, the band were chosen by BBC Introducing to perform at Reading Festival and Leeds Festival. The following year, 2010, they won the Q Magazine/Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition and performed on one of the festival's main stages

Blending elements of folk, pop and rock, the band’s distinctive and unabashedly appealing sound seems to have everyone talking.

CAPO 3

Intro: Am

Verse:

Am
I was out walking on my own

F
And it seemed to me like I was fleeing my home town

G
But I lost my way and now I feel battered and sore

Am G F Am
Im ragged and im worn

Am
The grass lay stiff and the pavements were coated in snow

F
And my finger tips and my toes were bitterly frozen

G
But it seemed the gravest chill and the deepest thaw

Am G F
Wont pain me any more

Am G F

Chorus:

F G
All the rooftops and street lights and fading to white
But Ill be alright if my feet carry me through the night
And all the rivers and their wakes wont keep me from finding my way

Am
Back home

Verse:

Am
So I turned to trace the tracks that my body had made

F
But it seemed that where the tracks were made only snow laid

G
And its deeper, darker and colder here than before

Am G F
As the night begins to draw

Am G F

Chorus:

F G
All the rooftops and street lights are fading to white
But Ill be alright if my feet carry me through the night
And all the rivers and their wakes wont keep me from finding my way

Am G F
Back home to where you lay

F G
All the rooftops and street lights are fading to white
But Ill be alright if my feet carry me through the night
And all the rivers and their wakes wont keep me from finding my way

C F
Keep resting on this heart of stone
For it’s a resting place, not a home

Am G F
And all the crooked scenes and the things I saw

Am G F
Wont shock me any more
