"Flowers In Her Hands"
INTRO: GDGDG

(Em)He was selling (G)dirt worms out in(C) the(D) summer (G)sun
And (C)she came (G)by on her pedal bike(D)
(Em)And she said "What you (D)doin' boy?" with her (Em)cheeks (D) full of bubblegum (G)
(C)And sat down on his apple box and smiled (D) (G) (D)

(Am)She said "I'm missing one (G) front tooth, but I could be (C)some company"
(Am) So they spent that (Bm) summer diggin' (G)holes down by the (D)stream
(G)She'd say "You're my best friend. (D)The first one I ever had."
(G)He'd just smiled and said "(Bm)I love you." without a word (C)
(D)He'd put some flowers in her hands(G)
(D)As they sat there in the sand(G)
On the (Bm)bank of the river(C) (D) (G)

(Em)Well, he was never (G)good at sayin' (C)what was(D) on his (G)heart
And (C)those three words(G) never came out(D)
(Em)And she grew up and(D) fell in love (C)with his (D)quiet charm(G)
(C)And if it hurt her she didn't tell (D) (G) (D)
(Am)Cause he knew how to (G)say I love you (C)in every other way
(Am)He tried his (Bm) best to show it on (G) their wedding day(D)
When she said

(G)"You're my best friend. The first (D) one I ever had"
(G)He'd just smiled and said "I love you." without a word(C)
(D)He'd put some flowers in her hands
(C)As they stood there in the sand
(D)On the(Bm)bank of the river (C) (D) (G)
INTRAMENTAL: D G C D

(C)They had years of life
(G)And their cup overflowed
(C)It came time for him to walk (G)some of them alone (D)
And he said
(G)"You were my best friend. The only (D)one I (G)really had.(D)
(G)Oh how I wish you could have (D)heard me say those (C)words."
(D)And he put some flowers in her hands
As he layed her in the sand
And (Bm)cried that he (C)loved her (D)
(Am)On his knees
By the river (C)
(G) (D) (G)
