Taking The Easy Way Home

by David Scobie
David Scobie

Biography:

David Scobie was born in Dundee, Scotland in 1964. He was raised on traditional Scottish music which influenced his musical interest.

In 1973 he emigrated with his parents to Rhodesia and, by 1975, was appearing regularly at the Beverley Rocks Motel Folk Club in Salisbury. During this time he was further influenced by Zimbabwean folk singer, Iris Jones, as well as Neil Diamond.

As a result he started to write his own songs and approached Martin Norris at Shed Studios in Salisbury who facilitated a recording deal for him.

[Intro]
C

[Verse 1]
G C
Close your eyes, think a while
F C
before we call it a day

Turn around, try to smile

Smile as you walk away

G
It ain't easy leaving
C
Don't you know, even heroes cry
G
I don't know the reason
C G
I just know it aint easy, all the time

C
It's funny how, we seem somehow
F C
Strangers saying goodbye
C
Guess what we have is over now
F C
Maybe we flew too high

G
I wont find it easy
G
I know you're leaving
C
will trouble me
G
But I've got a feeling
G
that maybe you really hurt
C
more than me

F G
I know it might sound vain
F G
but really it's not that way
G
It's just that I've found my way ....

[Chorus]
C F G
Taking the easy way home ... OK
C F G
Taking the easy way home ... All right
C F
Taking the easy way home
G F G
'Cos I'll find another road
F
Another way to go
G
Find some other song to sing along the line
G
Going home ...

C F G
Taking the easy way home
C
Taking the easy way home

[Verse 2]
G C
I've had my fears
G C
Cried my tears
F C
And learned a lot on the way
C C
I've hurt my pride through the years
F C
but now they're all yesterday

G
So baby believe me that maybe your leaving
C
Will trouble me
G
But I've got a feeling that
C
maybe you hurt more than me
F
I know it might sound vain
G
but really it's not that way
G
It's just that I've found my way ....

[Chorus]
C F G
Taking the easy way home ... OK
C F G
Taking the easy way home ... All right
C F
Taking the easy way home
G F G
'Cos I'll find another road
F
Another way to go
G
Find some other song to sing along the line
G
Going home ...

C F G
I'm Taking the easy way home
C
Taking the easy way home

[Outro]
C F G
I'm Taking the easy way home
C
Taking the easy way home
C F G
I'm Taking the easy way home

Taking the easy way home

I'm Taking the easy way home
