Tuned one half-step down. Some lyric variations and a different/simpler progression in some spots
compared to the original song. The chord names are weird but the shapes are simple variations of
traditional open chords, utilizing your pinky on the high E string:

C - x32013
Am - x02210
Gadd4 - 320013
G6 - 320010
Fadd9 - xx3213
Fmaj7 - xx3210
C/B - x20010

[Verse]

C Am
It gets loneliest at night.
Gadd4
Down at the liquor store.
Fadd9
Beneath the neon sky.
C Am
Six A.M., the floor comes alive with lice.
Gadd4
The pan's dried up so tight.
Fadd9 C
With hardened beans.
Gadd4 Am
So I lean on you sometimes.
Fmaj7
Just to see if you're still there.
C Am
These feet can't take the weight of one.
Gadd4
Much less two.
Fmaj7
And we hit concrete.
Am G6 Fmaj7
How were we born into this mess?
Am C Fmaj7 Am
You know I painted you a prettier picture, baby.
C Fadd9
We got run out on a rail.
Am C Fmaj7
Fell from the wagon to the night train.

[Chorus]

C Fadd9
I kissed the bottle.
C Fmaj7
I should've been kissing you.
C Fmaj7 C
You wake up to an empty night.
Fadd9
With tears for two.

[Verse]

C Am
Cigarettes they fill the gaps.
Gadd4
In our empty days.
Fadd9
In our broken teeth.
C
Say mister,
Am
can you spare a dime?
Gadd4
Some change could make a change
Fmaj7 C
Or buy some time.
C/B Am
Or an ear to hear my story.
C/B Fadd9
It's all I've got. This fiction
C Am
beats the hell out of my truth.
G6
This palm upturned burnt blue.
Fadd9
Don't call it sunburn.
Am C Fmaj7
I been shaking on the job.
Am C Fmaj7 Am
Just one drink ahead of my past.
C Fmaj7
And there's a white light coming up.
Am C Fmaj7
And I draw the blinds hoping it'll pass
C
But it won't pass, boy

[Chorus]

C Fmaj7
I kissed the bottle.
C Fmaj7
I should've been kissing you.
C Fmaj7 C
You wake up to an empty night.
Fmaj7
With tears for two.
C
And tears for two.
