Blanco White

Chalk

by Blanco White
Blanco White

Biography:

Blanco White started as the solo project of neo-folk singer-songwriter and Londoner Josh Edwards (born 21 June 1991) in 2014. After studying guitar in Cádiz (Spain), and later the Andean instrument the charango in Sucre (Bolivia), Edwards’ aim was to begin bringing together elements of Andalusian and Latin American music alongside influences closer to home.

In early 2016 Blanco White released 'The Wind Rose' via Yucatan Records, a self-produced debut EP.

[Verse 1]
C Am Dm
Each time that I hold the dice
G C
the numbers fade
C Am Dm
and Leavin' marks in my hands
G C
where the chalk and dust remain
C Am Dm
but lies can be read like notes
G C
She said I'd leave for Spain
Am Dm
She could've known that city's life
G C
from the model she gave me

[Chorus]
Am Dm
Some would ask for more
G
fool them with silence
C Am
cast the stone down
Dm
and at what they saw
G
just to follow the siren
C Am
as she moved on
Dm
and passed through the crowd
G C
She carried our hearts out
F G
it's true that some words are lost
G
cause you chose not to hear them

[Interlude]

[Verse 2]
C Am Dm
The eyes of two years have marked
G
new lines on her face
C Am Dm
they pass me by in the dark
G
my hands haven't changed
C Am Dm
with a crayon and pen from a can
G C
She drew a map of Spain
F
Still have it now
G
with a little white
C
but the markings are fading

[Chorus]
Am Dm
Some would ask for more
G
fool them with silence
C Am
cast the stone down
Dm
and at what they saw
G
just to follow the siren
C Am
as she moved on
Dm
and passed through the crowd
G C
She carried our hearts out
F G
it's true that some words are lost
G
cause you chose not to hear them
F
No ohhh
