American Pinup

Strange Creatures

by American Pinup
American Pinup

Biography:

American Pinup formed in 2010, emerging from the suburban sprawl and unsung underground music scene of Westchester County, New York. The indie/punk four-piece was pegged by AMP magazine as the "voice of the new decade" and combines elements of rockabilly, surf rock, punk, pop, folk, and ska to create a unique and fresh alternative sound. Blending the DIY ethos of the punk scene with a reverence for the melody and simplicity intrinsic to pop music, American Pinup has carved out their own niche in the world of independent music.

[Intro]

D F# Bm G x4

F#m
F#m Fm Em

[Verse 1]

Em
Everybody's going crazy
F#m F#m Fm Em
Everybody's lost their minds
Em
There must be something in the water
F#m
'Cause it's the youth crew and the Christian Right
In a knockdown dragout blackout fight
Em
And the poster boys and cover girls
A7
Are gonna take over the world

[Chorus]

D F# Bm G
I'd love to join your little party
D F# Bm G
But I just can't get in the mood
D F# Bm G
Can't wrap my mind around these stories
D F# Bm G
Are these things really human too

F#m
F#m Fm Em

[Verse 2]

Em
Can't help feeling like we're being
F#m F#m Fm Em
Robbed of something very key
Em
Carving out our definitions
F#m
'Cause we take the airwaves at their word
Though both things are intangible
Em
And wrap ourselves up nice and tight
Inside a womb of buzzing wires
F#m
Through some biological need
F#m Fm Em
The same all tired tales repeat
Em
And I swear that one day I'll accept
A7
That it was all for nothing

[Chorus]

D F# Bm G
I'd love to join your little party
D F# Bm G
But I just can't get in the mood
D F# Bm G
Can't wrap my mind around these stories
D F# Bm G
Are these things really human too

[Bridge]

Bm G
This change is nothing new
Em A7
The knee-jerk defense of a fool
Bm G
Try insecure for once
D A7
It's honest just not glamorous
Bm G
This change is nothing new
Em A7
Your daily dose of the new you
Bm G
Tomorrow's a new hat
D A7
But any idiot would know that

[Outro]

D Bm F# G x4

D F# Bm G
This change is nothing new
D F# Bm G
This change is nothing new
D F# Bm G
This change is nothing new
D F# Bm G
This change is nothing new

D Bm F# G x2

D F# Bm G
This change is nothing new
