Amanda Ghost

Cellophane

by Amanda Ghost
Amanda Ghost

Biography:

Born in North London to a Spanish mother and an East Indian father (who was born in Trinidad and is himself a keen amateur singer), Amanda Ghost was encouraged at an early age by her favourite uncle, a flamenco guitarist, to pick up a guitar and use the gift she had been blessed with. Exposed to a wide variety of classic popular music, from Billie Holiday to Stevie Nicks via Elvis, Nina Simone and Prince and oblivious to the then-current musical trends, she emerged in her late teens as a more-or-less fully formed artist with a style of her own.

Intro: Bb D

And I try and I try and I try
And I try and I try and I try

Verse: D Am C

Verse1:

Nobody moves me
I've been through this life with no place that I can call my own
I'm thinking about me
I never seem to find anybody that could feel like home
But I try and I try and I try and I try

Chorus:
Funny how it feels
when there's nothing to say-ay-ay-ay-ay
Trapped with my ideals
I can't contain-ain-ain-ain-ain
I'm wrapped in cellophane
I'm wrapped in cellophane
I'm wrapped in cellophane
And it knows my name

Verse 2:
Nobody told me
Obsessive needs were always following me around
And you can't ignore me
I look at my face and they tell me my place and town
And he said and she said And he said and she said

Chorus:
Funny how it feels
when there's nothing to say-ay-ay-ay-ay
Trapped with my ideals
I can't contain-ain-ain-ain-ain
I'm wrapped in cellophane
I'm wrapped in cellophane
I'm wrapped in cellophane
And it knows my name

Bridge: Bb D
And I try and I try
And I try and I try
And I try and I try
And he said and she said And he said and she said

Chorus:
Funny how it feels
when there's nothing to say-ay-ay-ay-ay
I'm wrapped in cellophane
