These Old Boots Have Roots

by Aaron Watson
Aaron Watson

Biography:

As one of Texas’s hottest young touring acts, Aaron Watson has earned his musical stripes the hard way; on the road, traveling thousands of miles to hundreds of honky-tonks across the Southwest and beyond. And for this rising star, the payoff could not have been sweeter than one magical night this past February when he stepped on stage at the legendary Texas Hall of Fame in Bryan, TX, where so many heavyweights had stood before him, to record his latest release.

[Verse 1]
C Em
Yeah, these old boots have roots
D
Just like my last name, I swear I will never bring it shame
C Em
Yeah, these old boots have roots
D
When the winds are bitter cold, I know this love of ours will hold
C Em D
These old boots have roots

[Chorus]
Em C D Em C G
So I march to the beat of my heart pounding like a drum
Em C D Em
Let 'em run me down, but I'll stand my ground
C G
No, I won't forsake or forget where I come from
Em C
I swear I'll never break your heart, only wanna make you smile
G D
These old boots want nothing more than to walk you down the aisle
C Em D
These old boots have roots

[Verse 2]
C Em
Yeah, these old boots have roots
D
They toed the mark and walked the line, girl, only you can make them shine
C Em
Yeah, these old boots have roots
D
They're tested, tried and true, walking side by side by you

[Instrumental]
Em C D Em C G
Em C D Em C G

[Verse 3]
C Em
Yeah, these old boots have roots
D
They haul a heavy load, down a long and winding road
C Em
Yeah, these old boots have roots
D
Strong as a live oak tree, someday you can bury me in
C
These old boots

C Em
I'll never bend for a dream, God knows I'll never trade them in
D
For some shallow hearted soul bouncing back and forth again
C Em D
Yeah, these old boots have roots
C Em D
Yeah, these old boots have roots
C Em D
Baby, these old boots have roots
